U.S Supreme Court Rejects Ecuador Appeal Of Chevron Award #Chevron

Chevron Ecuador news with a twist. The U.S. Supreme Court refused to hear Ecuador's appeal of the DC Circuit 2006 decision to award Chevron $106 million in damages stemming from long neglected lawsuits that go back to the 1990s. Texaco was in oil production partnership with Ecuador and in 1973 had a deal where the nation got low market rate oil for domestic use. By the end of the Tex-Pet corporate partnership Texaco found they Ecuador used far more than the oil they contracted for. Texaco sued and Ecuador ignored the lawsuits Then Chevron bought Texaco and this issue. In 2006 it sued and won in the DC Circuit. Ecuador was trying to claim that because it had an agreement with Tecaco and not Chevron it had no contract. The DC Circuit disagreed. Ten years later in refusing to hear the appeal the US Supreme Court upheld the DC Circuit.

UNLV Las Vegas Oakland Raiders Stadium News Update

UNLV Las Vegas Oakland Raiders Stadium News Update The update here in this video explains why the Southern Nevada Tourism and Infrastructure Committee only has stadium proposal alternatives for discussion on the June 23rd agenda of the SNTIC. The fact is the information that UNLV could make the airport site work from an FAA standpoint was old news but it was not reported after two things happened: first Sheldon Adelson bought the Las Vegas Review Journal last November and then the Raiders stepped in to the picture. After that the Review Journal took the stance that the FAA site UNLV said could not work, could work because they got a hold of a consultant who was not on the project but was used as a PR mouth piece. So the real story was buried. The truth is the a Raiders and Las Vegas Sands and Majestic don't have a workable site and are still miles away from securing one. Also many don't understand the role of the SNTIC. Whatever it does goes to the governor and then to the Infrastructure Committee of the Nevada Legislature. There is a chance the football stadium never makes it out of committee, where LVCC Expansion does. Stay tuned.

UNLV Cut Ties With Raiders/ Majestic Really Gave Up On Las Vegas Airport Site

According to the Las Vegas Sun on June 3rd and in an article that was written in such a way as to not mention the Oakland Raiders or the NFL, the University of Nevada Las Vegas gave up on their pursuit of a football stadium on land next to Las Vegas International Airport because they believed the FAA restrictions were too much to overcome. UNLV then considered a second site on land offered by Majestic Realty, but then rejected that too. UNLV is working on its own to build a 50,000 seat stadium. This then explains why the Oakland Raiders Las Vegas Stadium project is still in the discussion phase of the Southern Nevada Tourism and Infrastructure Committee and why June 23rd has just the LVCC Expansion recommendation. The stadium is further behind schedule than has been reported. There are too many unknowns to force a recommendation at this time. Like, for one, where will it be? Stay turned.

AC Transit Oakland Puts Bus Stop At 30th Broadway Summit Bank Anyway

AC Transit Oakland Puts Bus Stop At 30th Broadway Summit Bank Anyway Wow. In an act of complete hubris, AC Transit and the City of Oakland have placed the controversial Broadway Bus Stop in front of Summit Bank. This done even as the bank has stated its displeasure in wanting it and Summit Bank customers like this vlogger have done so as well. There is not enough room for a bus stop at they point. And while its marked temporary anyone who knows this issue can see that AC Transit is just squatting. Meanwhile Spouts Market has a ton of sidewalk space for a bus stop. But the managers of the market have told people they don't want to have bus riders lounging on their furniture! Wow. And they call the bank racist! Bad stuff.

Kathryn Ruggiero Oakland Tech Teacher Seeks Affordable Housing, Has Sign

Kathryn Ruggiero is an Oakland Tech Teacher who was walking around Lake Merritt Farmers Market on Lake Park with a sign that, in effect, reads that she is an Oakland Teacher who is looking for housing that takes less than 50 percent of her monthly income to afford. Ms. Ruggiero (who lived in San Francisco but is being forced out of her place there) said that the best deal she has found so far is in East Oakland, and that is for $1,700 per month. Doing some math, that puts her monthly income at about $3,400. Katheryn is but one of many people who's income level is taxed by the jacked up rents in Oakland. She says she can afford something at the $1,200 range. If you have a good apartment deal send her an email here: Kathryn.Ruggiero@OSUD.org.

It has been almost three years since I vlogged about the progress of the Transbay Transit Center and Salesforce Tower. When it's complete in 2018, Salesforce Tower will be the tallest building on the West Coast. The Transbay Transit Center is six stories tall and eight city blocks long. When finished it will serve as the meeting place for buses and trains from throughout the Bay Area. It replaces the original structure that was demolished a over a decade ago.
